When we talk about exfoliating and how important it is for the skin, many neglect about the lips! Yes we all know how to hydrate them but in order to keep a healthy, smooth, sexy and kissable pout -it is key to exfoliate them regularly!
When your lips get dry and chapped, they tend to flake and peel – a lip scrub helps to slough off dead, chapped skin and helps your lip balm penetrate deeper into the skin. The result? Supple, rosier and healthier lips.
A lip scrub contains two components: an exfoliant and a nourishing agent. The emollient or the nourishing agent provides a hydrating base for your exfoliator, making it easier to apply to your lips. These two go hand in hand for moisturizing and smoothing out your lips.
Good news is you don't need to spend a lot in yet another beauty product, instead save your hard earned money and make your own lip exofialiating scrub at home! That's right, we tend to forget that most of the time we have the solution right in front of us, at home. You should always consider a natural, drug-free option first. So, for this home remedy all you'll be needing is brown sugar, olive oil and vanilla -all of these you probably already have!
Why it works you ask? The oils moisturize while the sugar crystals exfoliate. Sugar also has anti-bacterial properties (which is why it’s used to preserve food) and it ensures that your scrub can have a decent shelf live.
The vanilla adds a nice smell and flavor.
This simple yet effective lip scrub recipe makes a great exfoliant. After you are done scrubbing your lips you can use the excess to scrub your hands and make them nice and soft too.
One last tip, it's most effective to exfoliate your lips at bedtime, followed by a good lip balm.

Mix a brown sugar with just enough honey or olive oil to get it to stick together.
Once a week rub the scrub onto your lips, vigorously enough to loosen the dead skin.
Let it sit for 1 minute, and then wipe off with a damp washcloth. Apply lip balm after use.
